Abstract :
The Knowledge Modeling System supports users in documenting knowledge elements of a problem domain which have been acquired for development of knowledge-based systems. The system was developed based on a knowledge modeling technique called the inferential modeling technique. It facilitates building an application ontology of a domain by explicitly storing and structuring both domain and task knowledge elements of any industrial problem domain. The design and some features of the system are presented. The case study describes use of the system in constructing an application ontology in the problem domain of petroleum separation processes.
