Abstract :
Certain factors may cause very high power flows on the EHV ENEL network. This implies, because of the structure of the ENEL power system, that some network sections become critical in the case of sudden loss of connections. To maintain network interconnection, and automatic control system, based on fast load/unit disconnection (determined by means of several offline studies), has been designed. This type of control makes it possible to face particularly severe dynamic phenomena (like loss of synchronism, voltage instability, etc.) and, in the case of thermal overloads, to reduce static overcurrents, both safeguarding the system integrity and the single components
