Abstract
This paper presents a flexible parameterized baseband transceiver architecture developed in the URANUS project. The architecture is based on the Gabor transform and could be efficiently implemented using filter banks. In particular, the transceiver could be used to produce and receive different signals including single carrier and multicarrier signals as well as possible future generalized multicarrier signals. In addition, the mode change is possible just changing the parameters of the building blocks unlike in many other multimode radios where at least some of the building blocks have to be changed if a mode is changed. In addition to the architecture also some simulation results are shown. These results compare the performance of the URANUS architecture to the usual UMTS implementation. Although the author has prepared this paper alone, much of the credits belong to his colleagues in the URANUS project. The shown results are a consequence of joint efforts made in the project. Therefore, the author represents the project, although some opinions are author´s own.
