Abstract
Space vector modulation (SVM) is increasingly used in three-level neutral point clamped (NPC) inverters. However, the conventional SVM scheme produces even order harmonics in the inverter output voltages. We analyze the mechanism of even order harmonic production. A new SVM scheme, which can eliminate all the even order harmonics, is proposed. The performance of the new design is investigated and simulation results are provided. The proposed SVM scheme can effectively control the neutral point potential. The presented technique can also be applied to other types of converters for even order harmonic elimination.
