Abstract :
Sludge reduction effects of the Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) with aquatic worms were studied. When the density of aquatic worms was 4800 mg/L, the average sludge yield of the SBR with aquatic worms was 0.17 g SS / g COD, reducing by 21.20% in comparison with that of SBR without aquatic worms. Furthermore, the values of SVI of worms-group were slightly lower than that of control. Therefore, inoculation of the aquatic worms in SBR can effectively reduce sludge and might have a contribution to improve sludge settling characteristics.
