Economic justification of small cogeneration systems for homes or small business: a case study

The possibility of energy conservation through the application of cogeneration methods in homes or small businesses in Greece is explored. Two alternatives are compared. The first situation is where a hot water heater is used and electricity is bought from a utility to meet energy needs. The second alternative is the use of a cogenerator to produce hot water and electricity, with all excess electricity produced sold back to the electric company.
