Abstract
An image analysis method was developed in order to quantify the pupil sizes of rats and swine based upon captured images. Images are acquired from an infrared (IR) light source, video camera, and computer equipped with image acquisition hardware and software. The computer, equipped with novel custom designed software, manually analyzes images of pupils based upon operator-selected parameters. This method is useful in cases where the pupil image is partially obstructed from view or pupil shape is elliptical.
