Abstract :
The paper present the experiment studies with our developed laboratory transient electromagnetic pulse logging system. The system, assembled as a tool, consists of several subsystems mainly such as the transient pulse signal generator, the transmitting/receiving antennas with resistive loadings, the time-domain sampling unit, the computer interfaces and the software packages for system control and data processing. By using the tool in the simulation well, four modeling formations are investigated in the experiments to verify the performance of the EMP logging method. From the results in the paper, it is realized that the methods used to process measured data and analyze responses are vital to distinguish the modeling underground formations. The time-domain holographic responses (TDHR) is obtained by the measurements with our integrated software packages. The main advantage of the TDHR is that the general image of the measured objects can be intuitively exhibited. To further inspect the information of the formation figures, the main pulse responses (MPR) and the time-scanning responses (TSR) are also proposed and employed in the paper. It is shown that the analysis method of the TSR is more promising and effective for the identification of objects.
