Abstract
Some results of research developed in the late 1990s and early 2000s, in the area of antennas, at CETUC (Center for Studies in Telecommunications of Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro), are presented in this paper. Reflector antennas transient analysis has been addressed directly in the time domain and comparative behavior between the implementation of asymptotic ray-optical techniques and that of equivalent induced currents is presented herein. The use of reflector antennas for omnidirectional coverage in point-to-multipoint services operating in the millimetric wavelength range has been investigated and the main results pertaining to two antenna configurations explored are reviewed. In waveguide components, theoretical and experimental results of some components designed by application of numerical models developed at CETUC are presented. Finally, a technique for the design of geodesic lenses, with scanning capabilities, excited by an array of feeders with uniform amplitudes is discussed.
