Abstract :
The authors examined the performance of ACR/NEMA 300, a digital imaging and communication standard for medical picture archiving and communication systems (PACS), proposed by the American College of Radiologists (ACR) and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) in terms of image delay, using simulated images. Three categories of workload were established on the basis of a previous investigation of current and future digital imaging loads at a hospital center. The results for user response time and image and packet delay are summarized
