Abstract :
A convenient way of attaining the apparently mutually exclusive properties of high ionic conductivity and good dimensional stability in the same polymer electrolyte is to form Li salt complexes of composite hosts. An example of electrolytes with high room temperature conductivity and good mechanical properties prepared in this manner is those based on polyacrylonitrile (PAN). The electrolyte, 17 PAN/43 EC/37 PC-3 LiN(SO2CF3)2 has conductivities of 4×10-3, 1.5×10-3, and 2.5×10-4 Ω-1-cm-1 at 50, 25, and -10°C, respectively. The performance of solid-state Li/LiMn 2O4 cells utilizing this electrolyte is discussed
