Abstract :
Based on the special properties of bulk coal, this paper analyzed the latent defect of bulk coal, point out generation of methane gas, carbon monoxide gas and self heating are the main hazards which vessel will encountered, introduced how to check and monitor the condition of coal when en route, represent some useful preventive measurement in safe transport of bulk coal, it can improve crewmember´s skill on how to properly and carefully custody and keep for the carried coal, it also service as a reference for shipping company and maritime related education and training.
