Abstract :
The battery industry in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is fairly well developed. The main directions for research are similar to those in other countries. As an example, the agenda of the National Meeting on Lithium Batteries is cited, which took place in September 1990 in Novocherkassk. In the present survey, a small number of these investigations are considered-mainly those in which new experimental or theoretical approaches were described. The research areas discussed are the passivating layer on lithium; properties of electrolytes; reactions with solid cathodic materials; and measurements of porosity
