Abstract :
We propose a fast intra mode skip decision algorithm for H.264/AVC video encoding. Although intra macroblock encoding algorithm based on various prediction methods in the pixel domain increases compression ratio, it requires a significant increase in the computational complexity. To reduce the processing time for the inter frame encoding, we propose a fast intra mode skip decision scheme based on an adaptive motion vector map (AMVM) algorithm for H.264/AVC video encoding. We verified that the proposed algorithm generates generally good performances in PSNR, bit rates, and processing time.
