Abstract
This paper discusses the optimization of onboard generation of hydrogen fuel using cold plasma. First, a review of the efficiency of a hydrogen fuel cell using this technology is given. The major focus is the optimization of fuel type to the cold plasma chamber. The energy input needed and carbon dioxide emissions of different fuel types to be used in this procedure are discussed. As hydrogen storage and production continues to be an impediment to the application of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, this paper strives to give a better understanding of how on-board generation of hydrogen can be a solution to this problem.
