  • Abstract
In order to ensure all products are manufactured to approved quality standards, and are in complete conformance with the relevant specifications, it is essential to monitor process control. To enable the monitoring and analysis of process control in the manufacture of PCBs and electronic assemblies in a more timely and efficient manner, the authors have introduced a new defect data system. The new system is PC-based, using a bar code scanner enabling rapid defect data collection, which replaced the previous paper system. The purpose of collecting defect data is to ensure that those responsible for an activity are informed if something has gone wrong, in order that corrective and preventive action can be taken
