Abstract
A single server queuing system with a finite-geometric-cluster arrival process which is bursty and highly correlated is considered. The concept of the finite-geometric-cluster process (FGCP) is introduced. The queueing analysis is carried out assuming that the arrival process is a FGCP. The results presented have a wide range of applications in computer and communication systems when successive arrivals are correlated. Expressions for the generating functions of the queue size and the queue size distribution are given. The influence of the correlation and burstiness of the packet arrival stream is investigated. Results obtained are discussed
