Abstract :
A modification to the DQDB protocol is proposed for the reuse of slots which have already been read by destination stations. The solution requires no modification of the frame format. It improves the bandwidth usage, as well as the fairness of the protocol, in overload and underload conditions. A set of specialized stations (erasure nodes) performing the release of the reusable slots can be a solution to the problem. Implementations are proposed and simulation results are presented
