Abstract :
This paper proposes an effective method, based on the concept of phase cancellation and filtering, to suppress interference containing multiple linear frequency modulated (LFM) sinusoidal components for direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) communications. Since the recently reported Lv distribution (LVD) provides a better concentration of signal energy in the domain of frequency and chirp rate, it achieves significantly improved performances on estimating the parameters of LFM signals. With these desirable capabilities, the proposed interference suppression method is able to make significant performance improvement on suppressing multiple narrow and/or wide band sinusoidal interference. Because the proposed method is able to detect the interference in the received signal, the interference excision process is employed only when the interference is present. The merits of the proposed method are analyzed and compared in terms of the bit error rates (BERs). Results of simulations are also presented to show the desirable effectiveness of interference suppression achieved by the proposed method.
