Abstract :
Summary form only as given. This presentation deals with the possible future scenario for large-scale computer manufacturing companies for the Year 2000 and beyond, using experience of the computer industry particularly in Scotland and the European marketplace. It covers what is occurring in the PC industry generally, tracks industry trends and then quantifies what is likely to happen in terms of market growth and demand for the industry in the future. The author then looks into what manufacturing companies are doing to respond to the market; looking at manufacturing processes to prepare for the future. Finally, he discusses some visions of the future and on the likely outcome of this fiercely competitive industry
