Abstract :
The scientific collaboration between Prof. Arthur A. Oliner and the group coordinated by Prof. Paolo Lampariello at “La Sapienza” University of Rome (i.e., the `Roman Leaky Group´) is reviewed in its historical development over about twenty years stating from the eighties. The main topics addressed are: leaky-wave antennas (LWAs) for millimeter waves based on groove guide, stub-loaded rectangular waveguide, and nonradiative dielectric (NRD) waveguide; spectral properties of leaky modes and transition regions; phased arrays of leaky-wave line sources; leakage in metal strip gratings.
