Abstract
Characteristic of traction loads as well as aging mechanism of insulation is analyzed. Then computer simulation about temperature of winding is achieved. Based on results, a new experimental system is designed to study the relationship between insulating aging and traction loads. The gases dissolved in oil (GDO) of experiment transformer such as CO and CO2 is monitored and analyzed. The affect of thermal surge on insulation aging is studied through comparing the GDO of transformer under surge loads and equivalent loads. Test results show that the traction loads seriously affect insulation aging and loss-of-life of traction transformer, which should not be neglected.
