Abstract
Multi-stage switching architectures are able to combine contention resolution in space, wavelength and time domain. With respect to previous works here a multi-stage architecture equipped with FDL queues is considered. A switch layout for a broadcast-and-select scheme with shared wavelength converters is proposed that relies on feasible components. Different queuing policies are considered also to support service differentiation and implemented by suitable scheduling algorithms. Performance evaluation carried out by simulation prove the effectiveness of the approach.
