Abstract :
The FCC is now planning the next generation of personal radio services. Different service scenarios, consisting of one or more personal radio services, will be evaluated. These services will include the CB Radio Service and possibly some similar new services. The output of the evaluation process will be an assessment of the effects that any service change will have on user satisfaction, interference to other services, service demand, political acceptance, spectrum usage, cost of enforcement, user education and licensing, and the national economic and sociological climate. A series of analyses that are being managed by the FCC´s Personal Radio Planning Group (PRPG) will provide the information and tools needed to perform the evaluation. The Commission will then use the results of the evaluation as an additional input to personal radio rule making proceedings.
