Abstract
A new type of microwave electrodeless lamp (MWL) is introduced. During the experiment, conventional Hg lamp and MWL are used as light sources; the main performance indexes of the two kinds of lamps are identified. The results indicated that microwave electrodeless lamp can provide microwave, ultraviolet light and produce higher-concentration ozone at the same time. The light intensity of the ultraviolet light (UV) at 254 nm produced by MWL was about 20 times more than traditional ultraviolet lamp. The concentration of ozone produced by microwave electrodeless lamp irradiation was about the one-tenth of the ozone machine.
