Abstract :
An anaerobic-aerobic-anoxic sequencing batch reactor (SBR) has been adopted for biological phosphorus removal from saline wastewater. The amounts of added salinity were investigated on phosphorus release and uptake. The experimental results showed that the rates of phosphorus release and aerobic phosphorus uptake have no significant differences responsible for variety of added salinity on condition that the influent salinity was lower than7g/l. On the other hand, the higher the added salinity in influent, the lower the rate of phosphorus release and uptake. Salinity had higher inhabitation to P uptake rate than P release rate and higher inhabitation to anoxic P uptake rate than aerobic P uptake rate.
