            Abstract :
The problem of validation of measurements given by a sensor arises in many applications. It is proposed to estimate the quality of measurements where the process-sensor combination undergoes slow degradation. Credibility is the result of comparison of current and reference parameters of the signal, and allow a distinction to be drawn between normal and abnormal behaviour. Real-time examples are given where the chosen parameters are the mean and the spectral characteristics, and in the special instance of progressive appearance of nonlinearities
