Abstract
The color filter array (CFA) image is interpolated considering the correlation between color channels. Previous works first interpolate the green (G) channel, and then obtain the differences between color channels (R or B channel) and the reference channel, the initial interpolated G channel. The proposed method estimates the horizontal and vertical interchannel differences directly in the CFA image to determine the direction of interpolation. Then, three color components (R/G/B) are interpolated along the estimated horizontal and vertical directions considering the differences of absolute interchannel differences and a post-processing is included to improve the interpolated image. Comparative experiments using 24 Kodak test images with four conventional demosaicing algorithms show the effectiveness of the proposed demosaicing algorithm in terms of the peak signal to noise ratio and visual quality.
