Abstract :
This paper presents the status of induction motor efficiency standards in Latin America, particularly in Brazil and Mexico, the continent´s two largest markets. It also introduces the concept of standards as an effective policy tool for the promotion of energy efficiency and market transformation. It encourages the adoption of industrial motor standards through the activities of energy policy-makers and motor manufacturers in Latin America. The paper promotes the harmonization of such standards throughout the Americas, based on IEEE and CSA standards
