Abstract :
An omnidirectional periodic dielectric rod leaky-wave antenna excited by the TE/sub 01/ mode in a circular metallic waveguide is investigated theoretically and experimentally. The present antenna is broadband in operation, simple in structure, easy to design and fabricate, scannable electronically by changing frequency, and more flexible for optimal design; hence, it is very suitable for millimeter-wave applications. Experimental results on the radiation characteristics on the antenna are compared with theoretical predictions and the agreement is good, thus verifying the practicality of the antenna and the effectiveness of the theory.<>
