Abstract
In the next few years, a number of new radio telescopes will become operational that will be equipped with phased-array feeds (PAFs). The large field-of-view offered by the PAFs will make it possible to survey the sky more than ten times faster than with current radio telescopes. This will have a large impact on astronomy. However, the the different nature of the instrument and the large data rates of these instruments imply that new techniques and algorithms have to be developed in order to be able to handle the data and the data stream. I briefly discuss two of the main issues.
