Abstract :
An optical switch fabric that is based on a new broadcast-and-select architecture is modified for use in a 40Gbit/s hybrid optical router for the first time. Compared to the other broadcast-and-select architectures, the new design eliminates the use of ON-OFF gates, and it requires a lower component count for implementation.
