Abstract :
A novel predictive antenna selection diversity (PASD) is proposed which improves the diversity performance for higher fading rates. In the PASD, received signal power for the assigned data slot is predicted from previously measured data. Thus, selection errors due to the receiving power changes in fast Rayleigh fading can be effectively avoided. An experimental result for an assigned slot duration of 6.7 ms showed that the diversity gain was increased by 1.3 dB over the conventional method for a fading rate of 40 Hz
