Abstract
A new twin arc-slot antenna element with reduced surface-wave and back radiation losses has been proposed. The great advantage of this antenna is that efficient surface-wave cancellation and resonance can be achieved simultaneously. By properly choosing the radius and the length of the arc-slots, the radiation efficiency can be as high as 96%. In addition, no cross-polarization in the principal planes is induced. Practical feed mechanisms are described as well as corresponding experimental results.
