Abstract
The influence of the imperfect earth on the propagation characteristics of underground single bare conductors and single core insulated cables arrangements is investigated in this paper. The propagation characteristics are derived through the per-unit-length parameters of the conductors, using new expressions for the earth impedance and admittance correction terms. The influence of the earth electromagnetic and geometric configuration properties are thoroughly analyzed and the results are compared to the corresponding ones obtained by other approximate approaches. Finally, the buried conductor parameters calculated by the proposed method are used in a model, simulating typical fast transients.
