Abstract
First flexural resonant frequency, length, midshaft width, and mineral content were measured in 112 excised rabbit humeri prior to recording load deflection curves in three-point bending. Breaking strength, bending stiffness, mineral content, resonant frequency, and the geometric measurements were all correlated by regression analysis and with a simple analytical model. The breaking strength of rabbit humeri estimated by regression analysis (r =0.869) was not as effective as that for embalmed human ulnae (r =0.947). In addition, the simple analytical model was not as effective in estimating resonant frequency in rabbit humeri (r =0.477) as in human ulnae (r =0.70)
