Abstract :
Design techniques are proposed for active control of buildings under earthquake excitation. For performance, L2 gain (from the ground motion to the controlled outputs) is used as the measure for the disturbance attenuation. The feasibility of the proposed technique can be readily checked through linear matrix inequalities. The validity and applicability of the proposed techniques are illustrated using simulations of a six-story building subjected to ground motion
