Abstract :
The authors analyze a three-phase bus with steady-state and short-circuit currents using a coupled finite element/circuit analysis method that they had previously developed for rotating machines. The bus consists of nine copper conductors, three in parallel for each phase, in an aluminum duct. This technique is required because the distributions of the respective total phase currents among the parallel conductors are not known a priori. The authors present the results of both steady-state (frequency-domain) and transient (time-domain) calculations
