Abstract :
An accurate calculation of air-gap ripple forces and torques is performed for a 21.55 MVA synchronous motor supplied by large AC adjustable-speed drives by using a time-stepping finite-element software package. The new software tool is used to control acoustic noise for design applications with stringent noise specifications
