Abstract
The paper proposes a novel two-motor drive system, consisting of a series connection of a six-phase and a three-phase ac machine, which enables decoupled vector control of the two machines although a single six-phase voltage source inverter is used as the supply. Both current control in the stationary reference frame and in the rotating reference frame are discussed. Theoretical considerations are supported by simulations results and some preliminary experimental results.
