Abstract
In the mid-1990´s, wireless data networks are growing in size and number with high hopes of attracting a large volume of traffic. Looking to the future, researchers see the full potential of wireless data services in the context of integrated multimedia networks. However, there is a need for new technology to satisfy this potential. Technical challenges arise from three phenomena: the power supply constraints of information terminals, the radio channels linking terminals to the network, and user mobility. This paper describes current work aimed at delivering efficient information services in the presence of these phenomena.<>
