Abstract :
The paper deals with modelling of a two-phase induction motor. Based on geometric dimensions, the model was developed in the 2D and 3D ANSYS Maxwell program by which the transient process at the motor start-up was calculated. Another model was created based on the induction motor mathematical description in the MATLAB/Simulink program. Waveforms of the motor currents and torques from this program are compared with waveforms, computed by transient analyses using ANSYS Maxwell program. Finally, at the end of the paper torque-slip characteristics of the motor computed in 2D and 3D space using ANSYS Maxwell program are compared with those from measurement.
