Abstract
The Green´s function is factorized by using the addition theorem which is the mathematical core of the multilevel fast multipole algorithm (MLFMA). In the numerical implementation, the errors arise from the truncation of the addition theorem, the process of aggregation and disaggregation, and the approximation of the integration. In this paper, we investigate these errors precisely for an electromagnetic scattering problem and show how to control them by choosing proper parameters in the computational process.
