Abstract
The authors describe how a system wide approach is needed to address stray current control effectively on a tram system. They argue that the Nottingham Code of Practice (UK) should support the control of stray currents on the system, but must also recognise other developments in the industry such as the Cenelec Standard on Stray Current Control, EN 50122-2. The detailed design of the system will be the responsibility of Arrow who will need to balance the installation and maintenance costs against the requirements of the Code of Practice and the needs of the utilities, Railtrack and others
