Abstract :
The paper describes an adaptive equalizer architecture suitable for digital cordless communication systems. These systems are normally defined to work in indoor environments where the channels show small delay spread values. For this reason, the implementation of signal equalization is not considered in any practical offering. Because of the simplicity and cost requirements of these systems simple and inexpensive receivers are used whenever it is possible (e.g. limiter discriminator receivers). The use of these systems in outdoor environments has also been attracting interest. These systems offer a high capacity and a low cost. However, these applications show longer delay spread values and it is therefore necessary to perform an equalization process to maintain the communication quality. Maintaining a limiter/discriminator receiver poses several problems due to the fact that it produces distortions on the received signal which make equalization very difficult to achieved. This paper complements previous studies with lab trials for the DECT system
