Abstract
This paper describes the development of Nissan´s Time Control System. The system combines a wide variety of automotive electrical functions that are related to time intervals into one integrated unit. Our goal was to make the new system more flexible and reliable than existing separate units, yet keep it cost effective as well. In order to meet these requirements, the system was designed around a custom C-MOS LSI, which controls such varied functions as the clock, wipers, turn signals, timers and warning devices.
