Abstract
This article describes the methodology for the purification of the PbI2 salt by the technique of multipass zone refining and growth by the Bridgman method. A significant decrease of the impurity concentration was observed as a function of the purification pass number. The results of dark leakage current, the resistivity and response to alpha and gamma radiation were strongly dependent on the purity of the crystal
