  • Abstract
    The authors derive an efficient series representation for I/sub pab/, a quadratic-phase integral commonly encountered in aperture-antenna theory. The accuracy and efficiency of the series formula relative to ordinary numerical integration are discussed. The formula may be effective in calculating the effect of quadratic-phase error on the gain and beamwidth characteristics of a radiation pattern, the field in the Fresnel region, on-axis defocus characteristics of the paraboloidal reflector, and the shadow region correction field due to a disk-shaped obstacle in front of a large aperture (such as a reflector).<>
