Abstract
A theoretical and experimental investigation on the electrodynamical properties of open coaxial cylindrical resonators with longitudinal slots on the inner conductor wall is carried out as a means to discriminate the total QT factor and resonant frequency of competing modes in high-power gyrotrons. A detailed study of the potentialities of the corrugated coaxial cavity for mode selection in gyrotron cavity is carried out, and, to our knowledge, this is the first time that experiments are performed to verify the theory
