Abstract
A novel switching controller for a multiple-inductor buck converter is presented based on quantized control theory. This new design gives rise to a self-switching voltage-feedback buck converter, eliminating the need of using PWM generator and current-sense amplifiers. A 12V/1.5V three-inductor buck converter is designed for illustration. The experiment reports a static regulation error of 1.13%, step-up transient regulation error of 7.3% (110mV), and step-down transient regulation error of 8.4% (126mV) under the load current variation from 0A/50A to 50A/0A at a slew rate of 30A/μs.
